Special Olympics Germany and SPORTFIVE extend partnership until 2026

Hamburg, 18 March 2025 – Special Olympics Germany (SOD) and SPORTFIVE are continuing their successful partnership: the marketing agreement in place since 2021 has been extended for a further two years until the end of 2026. This decision underlines the joint commitment to greater social participation and sustainable partnerships that enable people with disabilities to achieve greater self-determination.

The collaboration also includes the comprehensive marketing of the 2026 National Summer Games in Saarland, TeamSOD, the sports delegation representing Germany at international competitions, and the Special Olympics Germany (SOD) association with the aim of building national partnerships to promote inclusion and participation.

SPORTFIVE took over the marketing of the Special Olympics organisation in Germany at the beginning of 2021 and developed a comprehensive marketing strategy together with the Organising Committee of the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 and Special Olympics Germany (SOD). In addition to acquiring sponsors, the main focus is on building sustainable partnerships. The aim is to strengthen the financial stability of the Special Olympics movement in Germany and at the same time promote effective inclusion initiatives.

The resources raised will be used to organise the World and National Games, participate in and support TeamSOD, invest in sport and healthcare for people with intellectual disabilities and create a more inclusive society in Germany.

‘Our partners play a central role in realising our vision: to use the power of sport to create an inclusive society in which people with intellectual disabilities can participate actively and independently in life. With SPORTFIVE, we have a strong trailblazer at our side, with whom we have taken our marketing to a new level and made our values and vision even more visible. We are therefore all the more looking forward to further cooperation in order to gain additional partners, create additional opportunities and thus further advance our goals. SPORTFIVE is sending out a clear signal in favour of inclusion - and is strengthening us at full strength on and off the pitch,’ says Sven Albrecht, Federal Managing Director of Special Olympics Germany.

Hendrik Schiphorst, Managing Director of SPORTFIVE Germany, adds: ‘We are delighted and proud to continue our successful collaboration with Special Olympics Germany and to help the inclusion movement achieve even greater success and visibility. At SPORTFIVE, we believe in the power of sport to change the lives of all people. Special Olympics athletes embody this belief every day. The marketing approach of Special Olympics is unique and remains something very special for us. It is a highly relevant socio-political topic, because inclusion concerns us all. At the same time, purpose marketing is playing an increasingly important role for many companies. By supporting the Special Olympics movement, companies are given a platform with which they can achieve a great impact both externally and internally and demonstrate their social leadership role in a particularly effective way.’

With more than 35 years of experience in the marketing of multi-sport and major events, SPORTFIVE brings valuable expertise to the partnership. In addition to developing the marketing strategy, SPORTFIVE is responsible for generating revenue and manages over 30 sponsors.

The Special Olympics movement pursues the global goal of living inclusion and opening up new perspectives for people with intellectual disabilities through sport. More than five million athletes, one million coaches and volunteers are involved in over 100,000 competitions and 32 Olympic sports in more than 170 countries every year. This work not only ensures greater participation on the playing field, but also in education, the world of work and society.
