With Germany set to host and co-host the upcoming two Men’s World Championships during the contractual term (2027 and 2029), the timing couldn’t be more impactful.

ProSiebenSat.1: Free-to-Air Home for Key Handball Moments
Through this agreement, ProSiebenSat.1 secures the free-to-air rights to:
Senior Men’s and Women’s World Championships (2027, 2029, 2031)
All matches of the German national teams
Up to 8 additional matches per tournament without German participation, including the final, one of the semi-finals, and one quarter-final..
Olympic Qualification Tournaments 2028 (Men and Women)
All matches involving the German teams.
Men’s U21 World Championships (2027, 2029, 2031)

For the pinnacle events in international handball, all matches of the men’s German national team will be broadcasted on the flagship channel ProSieben. Furthermore, the agreement with ProSiebenSat.1 will boost the coverage of the women events to another level, as all matches of the German national team will be shown on linear TV. Finally, to underline the commitment to grow the sport, all matches of the reigning U21 World Champions will be made available for free via the ProSiebenSat.1 services (2027, 2029, 2031).
Beyond live broadcasts, ProSiebenSat.1 will integrate handball into its wider entertainment ecosystem. Audiences can expect a new level of engagement through original formats, behind-the-scenes content, and in-depth tournament storytelling, positioning handball at the forefront of mainstream sports coverage in Germany.
